Description: Are you eager to make a film but you don't know where to begin? Or maybe you've already made a film, but it didn't turn out quite as good as you hoped. Our Crash Course in Filmmaking is a two-day, ten-hour workshop that can really help.

On Friday evening, we discuss Development and Pre-Production. We look at scripts from Hollywood and Independent movies and talk about how to write or find a story perfect for your own production. We then dissect the script we will be shooting in class the next day and put together a shot list and production schedule.

On Saturday morning, we shoot a short film with two professional actors. You learn the basics of good lighting and sound, as well as how to work with actors to get the best performance possible.

On Saturday afternoon, we move onto Post Production and Release. We edit our film, focusing on the fundamentals to establish pacing and mood while putting together a clean sound mix. We look at post-production tricks like digital pans and zooms and color correction. We even talk about DVDs, Marketing, and Film Festivals.

In the last hour, we talk about your productions and answer any questions you might have to help make your film a success.

Acting in front of a camera, lights, and crew is both fun and challenging and our Acting for Film Workshop can teach you what it's all about.

Each week, we focus on different aspects of the craft: auditioning, scene study, character arc, partner work, monologues, reactions, emotional range, subtext, and more.

Additionally, we cover the many technical skills unique to film acting: knowing your frame, your eye-line, your mark, tricks for making each take count, working with a green screen, and more.

Performances are filmed so you can study and learn from your own work while getting comfortable working with camera, lights, and sound.

Our workshop is designed for beginning and advanced students and class size is kept small with weekly assignments designed to challenge each student to grow at their own pace. Advanced students will potentially have the opportunity to perform in other NJ Film School productions.

Finally, at the end of the workshop, each actor will receive copies of their best work to use professionally in a reel or on their web site.
